What is a radiant barrier?
Radiant barriers usually consist of a thin sheet or coating of a highly reflective material
like aluminum. Although
radiant insulation and
attic insulation have the same purpose, a
radiant heat barrier is rated extremely high in efficiency.
HeatBLoc75 radiant heat barrier which blocks 75% of the heat from transferring through your roof and into
your attic, and has a low emittance rating. The
radiant barrier insulation coating includes aluminum powder and zinc which are mixed in a water base
and applied like paint to the underside of your roofing.
How does it work?
During the summer your roof absorbs the sun’s energy and radiates
heat downwards into your house. When you install a
roof radiant barrier, the heat is reflected back up and your
radiant attic lowers the amount of heat transmitted to the rooms below. The
radiant barrier is also effective in keeping the heat in during in winter.
Also used by NASA to keep their lunar vehicles cool, HeatBloc75 extends the life of your central air system and raises the
value of your home. Moreover, each installation includes an additional
4-6 inches of blown insulation on top of any existing insulation thus
increasing your overall R-Value.
